BREAKING : Chiefs could turn a contender’s nightmare into their own roster fix

Kansas City Chiefs v Seattle Seahawks - NFL Preseason 2025

The Kansas City Chiefs had hoped that Skyy Moore could be a huge piece of their receiver room, but he’s been big for all the wrong reasons. When Kansas City took Moore in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, they had surely hoped they had found a legitimate WR for Patrick Mahomes for years to come.

But Moore has been nothing close to that, unfortunately, and he may be on the outside looking in at the Chiefs’ roster for the 2025 NFL season. Moore has only hauled in 43 receptions in his first three years in the NFL and registered just three targets in six games in 2024.

Well, some developing news breaking on Wednesday morning could give the Chiefs and Moore a much-needed fresh start.

The Minnesota Vikings need some veteran wide receiver help, and the Chiefs should pick up the phone to make a deal

Tom Pelissero is reporting that the Minnesota Vikings are ‘seriously exploring’ the veteran receiver trade market for some help before Week 1:

If nothing else, Skyy Moore turns just 25 years old in September and is under team control for another season. Getting him to play in an offense in Minnesota filled with high-end players could also open up some opportunities to shine and perform at whatever ceiling he’s got.

Furthermore, special teams coordinator Dave Toub had this to say recently about Moore:

“His punt return ability and kick return ability has really gotten better over the years, and it showed right there. I mean, he’s solid in that part of it. The other part is just the mental [side] with him, and it’s just about getting over that hump. He’s definitely an NFL player, whether he’s on our team or not on our team. I think the return helped him. He’s a good football player. I’d be happy with Sky back there.”

Simply put, Skyy Moore’s status on the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2025 season feels tenuous at best, and with the Chiefs’ need to figure this room out once and for all, trading away a player like Moore could make a ton of sense for both sides—if Minnesota had the interest.

Kansas City could admit its failure with the draft pick and still (hopefully) get some sort of compensation in return from the Minnesota Vikings, and you get the sense that Minnesota is poised to add a player at this position, given what they have built.

Chiefs may have just turned their biggest weakness into a nightmare for rest of NFL
