During Wednesday’s training camp press conference, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid shared his plan for quarterback Patrick Mahomes heading into Friday’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.
“There’s a chance I sit a couple of the starters or at least be short with them,” said Reid. “We want to make sure we get a good look at these young guys, so we’ll just see how it all rolls going forward.”
Mahomes and Travis Kelce practiced on the scout team to conclude training camp at Missouri Western State University this year. The franchise leader in head coaching victories gave a noncommittal response regarding Mahomes’ playing
“There’s a good chance he (Patrick Mahomes) doesn’t (play on Friday), we’ll see how it goes,” said Reid, who also praised the play of backup Chris Oladokun. “Look, I thought he had a good game last week. So, he’ll play, he’ll get some playing time this week. All of them will (quarterbacks), Pat (Mahomes) would be the one that would get slighted – but those other three will get plenty of time.”
Mahomes completed his only pass attempt in Saturday’s preseason opener for a touchdown in a brief appearance.
