
Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs started their preseason with a 20-17 loss against the Arizona Cardinals. There is one particular aspect that worries the head coach ahead of the opener facing the Chargers in Brazil.
āWe were too sloppy. Too many penalties, going backwards when you shouldnāt be offensively. Weāve got to take care of that. 10 penalties for 108 yards. Thatās a good rushing day for a team. So, you canāt give that up with penalties.ā
Patrick Mahomes and some of the starters were active in the first offensive series, but then they received the expected rest after scoring a touchdown. The Chiefs will face the Seattle Seahawks and the Chicago Bears to close out their preseason before the highly anticipated trip to Sao Paulo to kickoff the regular season.
Andy Reid praises Chiefsā offensive line
Despite the loss and the penalties, Andy Reid highlighted two things from the game against the Cardinals: a good performance by the starters and, especially, the work of the offensive line.
āThere were some good things even though it didnāt come off that way, but, the 1ās I thought played well when they were in. They were sharp. I thought the young offensive line was a positive. The guys that worked in there with the 1ās. I thought they did a nice job for the time they were in. The couple of series they had.ā
