HOT NEWS: Final Detroit Lions Week 11 injury report confirms notable absence

By

After playing four of their last five games on the road, the 8-1 Detroit Lions will be back at Ford Field to take on the 2-8 Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11.

On the injury front for the Lions, the headliner is clearly tight end Sam LaPorta. He suffered a shoulder injury in Week 10 against the Houston Texans, and has not practiced all week. Head coach Dan Campbell immediately suggested LaPorta might miss this week’s game.

Here is the Friday injury report for the Lions, with statuses for Sunday’s game.

  • TE Sam LaPorta (shoulder)-Out
  • DT Brodric Martin (knee)-Out
  • S Ifeatu Melinfonwu (ankle/finger)-Out
  • CB Emmanuel Moseley (pectoral)-Out
  • LB Ben Niemann (ankle-Questionable
  • OT Taylor Decker (shoulder)-No designation
  • CB Carlton Davis (hand)-No designation
  • LB Malcolm Rodriguez (ankle)-No designation

LaPorta, unsurprisingly, is officially out for Sunday’s game. Brock Wright steps in as the Lions’ No. 1 tight end in his place, with Shane Zylstra and James Mitchell working him.

Martin, Melifonwu and Moseley are in their 21-day evaluation windows to be activated off IR. Martin is near the end of his window to be added to the 53-man roster, with four days left now, while Melifonwu and Moseley have 11 days left to be added to the active roster.

Davis popped up on Thursday’s practice report with a hand injury. He revealed to reporters in the locker room on Friday that he broke his thumb while battling wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown during Thursday’s practice, but he’ll “cast it up” and play on Sunday. To that end, he’s got no designation for the game after logging a full practice on Friday.

Niemann was noted by reporters as not being on the practice field on Friday, and it seems he’s legitimately questionable with an ankle injury.

Decker missed Week 10 with a shoulder injury, but he is good to go for Sunday. As is Rodriguez, who missed the last two games with an ankle injury.

Here is the Friday injury report for the Jaguars. With Trevor Lawrence out, Mac Jones will make his second straight start under center.

  • QB Trevor Lawrence (left shoulder)-Out
  • RB Tank Bigsby (ankle)-Out
  • OG Ezra Cleveland (ankle)-Questionable
  • DT Maason Smith (ankle)-Questionable
  • RB Keilan Robinson (toe)-Questionable
