Burrow, Chase impress; Bengals drop preseason opener to Eagles 34-27

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WDTN) – Joe Burrow and the Bengals offensive starters shined in one quarter of play but Cincinnati ultimately dropped their preseason opener to the Philadelphia Eagles 34-27 on Thursday night.

Burrow led the Bengals down the field on the game’s opening series, linking up with wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase three times for 41 yards.

Burrow later hit tight end Tanner Hudson on a 12-yard touchdown to give Cincy the first lead 7-0.

Later, Burrow hit Chase again, this time for a catch and spring up the sideline for another TD to put the Bengals in front 14-7.

Burrow and Chase were done after the first quarter.

Burrow finished 9-10 passing for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Chase caught four passes for 77 yards.

Bengals backup quarterback Jake Browning completed 6-14 passes, while former Cincinnati Bearcats QB Desmond Ridder appeared in several series in the fourth quarter.

Tanner Hudson ended the night with six catches for 62 yards, second to only Chase.

The Bengals’ second preseason game of 2025 will be Monday, Aug. 18, against the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium at 8 p.m.
