The Kansas City Chiefs have an impressive stable of capable running backs to lead their ground game in 2025, but the most intriguing of the bunch may be rookie rusher Brashard Smith.
A former wide receiver-running back hybrid as a collegian, Smith was selected by the Chiefs with the No. 228 pick in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL draft after an outstanding career with the Miami Hurricanes and Southern Methodist University Mustangs.
During Kansas City’s latest practice session at training camp, Smith made a one-handed catch and showed off a nasty juke move that turned the heads of fans in attendance for the Chiefs’ workouts.
Take a look at Smith’s outstanding effort in this video, which was posted to Twitter by Arrowhead Addict contributor Christian Ainsworth:

While Smith isn’t expected to compete with Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt for the No. 1 spot at the running back position on Kansas City’s depth chart, the exciting rookie could earn a role as a rotational or situational pass-catcher out of the backfield if he demonstrates this same kind of explosiveness when the Chiefs face off against the Arizona Cardinals on August 9.
