Packers' Romeo Doubs shares his goals for the season

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers open the preseason Saturday night at Lambeau Field against the Jets.

Spectrum News recently had the chance to visit with Packers wide receiver Romeo Dobbs

When you look to this season, let’s start with your personal goals. Do you keep those private or do you set, or how does that work?

Doubs: I have no goals. I’ve said this before. This is a day-to-day league. Good, bad or ugly. It’s always a good in everything. And that be my mindset going forward.

So as far as team goals, I mean, everybody’s in it to win a Super Bowl, right?

Doubs: Absolutely. Yeah. I mean, that’s to me, obviously, that is our goal going into this year to make sure that, you know, we do our absolute best day in and day out, week in and out, to put ourselves in a position to win a Super Bowl this year.

Coach LaFleur has talked about the receiver room being very competitive. Obviously, they spent a couple of high draft picks on receivers. You’re an established receiver in this league. Do you welcome new players to this group?

Doubs: Absolutely. I appreciate the competitive nature and, and Savion (Williams) and Matthew (Golden). Yeah, and, you know, ultimately, just with me having the experience that doing this offense outside of just the competitive nature. I look forward to teaching him the offense. And then that way they can go out there and play to the best of their ability.

You put that very well because one day you’re the young guy and then you blink and you’re the veteran.

Doubs: Oh, yeah. Yeah, man. I mean, it goes by fast. This league goes by fast. And again, I’m just really grateful.

Final question for you. I mean, even before Jordan (Love) was a starter, you talked very highly of him. You had a great deal of confidence in him. Now that you’ve seen him grow, what are you seeing in him as a quarterback?

Doubs: The ceiling is really high for Jordan. I’ve said it like you said before; he’s gotten the job that, now you know that he is one of the best that I’ve been around. Just being able to have these opportunities of working with him, just continuously growing with him, on the football field, off the football field, whatever the case may be. I’m just grateful and blessed to be around someone like him who is very in his work and just a smooth, smooth individual, man.
