Patrick Mahomes has won millions of fans — and a few enemies — over the years, but only one has been there from the start, mom Randi Martin.
The superstar Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is preparing for his ninth season in the NFL.

In seven campaigns as a starter, he has made the Super Bowl five times and won three in an era of dominance not seen sim Tom Brady’s peak as a New England Patriot.
Randi has enjoyed being along for the ride but admits that she has never been able to get used to the risk of serious injury.
“It is a fear that I have. I don’t normally like to speak about it, but at the same time, I keep thinking it’s gonna get easier to watch,” she said in a video released via her Instagram.
Randi’s fear is not just for her son, but every one of the over 1,500 stars playing in the NFL.
“And we had injuries. And so it’s something that I always tell them to like focus on your body, listen to your body,” she added.
“Listen to your coaches and the doctors. Also we all know that football is a contact sport, and it’s something that I’ve accepted.
“Every player’s team when it comes to injuries, anyone on any team gets even a little bit hurt. I lose my breath for a moment. And I’m praying for each and every one of them.”
Mahomes has a reputation for fighting through injuries — even defying head coach Andy Reid to play on despite a rolled ankle.
How many children does Patrick Mahomes have?
As well as seeing her son live his dreams on the field, Randi has seen him enjoy success of it, too.
The QB and wife Brittany have three children together — and a delighted grandmother to help carry the load.

Randi looked after the kids and shared a heartwarming Instagram post in July, showing photos of a family day out.
“My heart is full. Grandi Camp 2025!! Grandi loves you Sterling, Bronze and Golden,” she wrote. “There’s nothing better than spending time with them. Covering these sweet babies in all the prayer and love. Prov. 3:5-6.”
The Mahomes family includes three children — four-year-old daughter Sterling Skye, two-year-old son Patrick ‘Bronze’ Lavon, and new addition Golden Raye, who was born in January.
Who did the Chiefs draft?
Randi will be delighted to see head coach Andy Reid address Patrick’s blind side at the end of the first round in April’s NFL Draft.
Josh Simmons fell to the Chiefs after tearing his patella tendon in October but has been impressing in training camp.
Jalen Royals was added to the wide receiver room in the fourth round and is also off to a strong start.

Asked for the secret to his early success with Mahomes, the former Utah State wideout said: “Just trusting him.”
Teammate Rashee Rice could miss the start of the season through suspension and Royals is ready to take his chance with both hands if he is thrust into a starting role.
“Man, that culture over there, that winning culture [excites me],” he said. “I need to be about my business, lock in and embrace the Kansas City culture.
“I took a backseat [at Utah State] when I got there… And when my chance came up I took full opportunity of it.
