The Kansas City Chiefsâ injury situation at training camp seems to be taking one step forward and two steps backward. They no longer have 10 players sitting out of practice with injury, and no new injuries to report from Sundayâs practice.
âAlright, the same injury â I mean, we didnât have anything new today,â Chiefs HC Andy Reid told reporters on Sunday. âSkyy Moore came back and did some work, easing himself back in off the hamstring. Other than that, Jared Wiley, Drue Tranquill, (Kristian) Fulton, (Deon) Bush, Marquise (Hollywood) Brown, (Jake) Briningstool, (the) same as we had yesterday, nothing changed there. It was good work today.â
With the preseason rapidly approaching and 32 days left to go until the season opener, getting some of these players back on the field and healthy will be a major focus for the team. Coach Reid elaborated on several of the injuries, providing extra insight and information.
What should Chiefs fans make of WR Hollywood Brownâs ankle injury?
Chiefs WR Marquise âHollywoodâ Brown suffered an ankle injury in training camp practice on Tuesday, July 29. Despite some positive reports to follow, Brown has yet to take part in a practice session since the injury. Today, he was spotted working on the bike in the injury tent during practice.
If you look closely, Hollywood Brown is in the training tent on the bike. Hopefully close to coming back. Chiefs donât practice tomorrow, so the earliest he could return would be this Tuesday. pic.twitter.com/gPP2DAG6Gh

Asked about Brownâs injury recovery, Chiefs HC Andy Reid said the starting wide receiver is making strides and that the injury isnât as bad as it could have been.
âMaking progress, but itâs in that ankle area, so we just want to make sure it is right,â Reid said. âThatâs how we want to come out of this thing, and he (Hollywood Brown) is making progress. But weâll just see. Itâs not serious â when I say serious, Iâm talking about surgery (and) it doesnât look like heâs going to have surgery, but we got to let it heal up and go.â
Brown, of course, has a history of ankle injuries during his professional career. That, combined with his sternoclavicular joint injury a season ago, likely has the Chiefs taking every possible precaution to ensure Brown makes a full recovery.
Is Chiefs CB Kristian Fulton close to returning from the Active/PUP list?
One of the most disappointing developments of training camp has been Kristian Fultonâs knee injury, preventing him from seeing the field. He remains on the Active/PUP list with no official timeline for his return, but Coach Reid had at least one positive development to share.
âWeâre hoping, yeah, weâre just kind of taking it day by day,â Reid said of Fulton. âHe (Kristian Fulton) started to run here, so weâll see where it goes.â
Fulton can be taken off the Active/PUP list at any time, but heâll still have an uphill battle when it comes to catching up and making an on-field impact once he returns.
âThat just means other guys get more reps,â Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo said of Fulltonâs injury on Wednesday, July 30. âWeâre going to have to find out what we have in Kristian Fulton because he has missed a lot of time. Itâs not like you step right in here in a multiple system like we have and know what you are doing, so it may take a little while to get him ramped up, but weâre anxious to get him back and get more competition at that spot.â
Did Chiefs TE Jared Wiley have a setback in his recovery from last seasonâs ACL injury?
Chiefs second-year TE Jared Wiley has missed the past two practice sessions after being fully healthy to start training camp. The big question on Wiley is whether he had any sort of setback in his recovery from an ACL injury that occurred a season ago. Andy Reidâs answer didnât exactly put minds at ease.
âYeah, heâs (Jared Wiley) got a little swelling in there, so we just got to watch that,â Reid said. âWe were trying to limit his reps and ease him in, but it would swell up a little bit, so weâre just keeping an eye on him.â
Weâll see if Wiley can get back out on the field when the Chiefs return to practice at training camp in St. Joe on Tuesday, Aug. 8. If he canât, it wonât bode well for his chances to work in preseason Week 1.
