Bears vs. Packers: Keys to victory

Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers: Keys to victory - Windy City Gridiron

The Bears host their arch rivals Sunday and need to avoid their losing streak extending to 11 games.

The Chicago Bears have lost three straight games, and the season has turned.

All of the momentum and good vibes the Bears had going for them in October is long evaporated.

Now, with a new playcaller and a wild amount of turmoil, the Bears have to host the Green Bay Packers. They haven’t beaten the Packers in nearly six calendar years and five full NFL seasons.

Chicago’s current 10-game losing streak is tied for the longest they’ve ever had against the team from up north.

It won’t be easy. But here’s what our group of writers say the Bears need to do in order to pull off the upset Sunday.

5 keys to Packers beating Bears in Week 11 - Yahoo Sports

Sam: Don’t get embarrassed. That’s all I want. Protect Caleb, feed D’Andre Swift and get out of there looking decent enough that I don’t have to have an existential crisis. Defense, get after Jordan Love. He’s prone to throwing picks, but he has some real receiving weapons. But the real key here is shutting down Josh Jacobs. Again, don’t embarrass us. Please. Keep it within two scores. *Long sigh*

Lester: Sam nailed it… Don’t get embarrassed. Green Bay has won the last ten games with an average margin of victory of 12.7 points, and they are coming off their bye week with a damn good coaching staff up there. Unfortunately, this game plan is going to be right up Eberflus’ alley and they’ll go conservative to keep it close and hope for some turnovers.

Bryan: It was encouraging in the pressers when Caleb specifically mentioned the short passing game being a point of emphasis with Thomas Brown to open up both run and pass. Considering we have been exposed against man coverage, I fully expect GB to stick to us man-to-man in this one. An offensive game plan built around that, most importantly getting DJ Moore and Cole Kmet involved early, will be huge on offense. On D, catch the errant throw(s) by Love. Too often, we have let those slip through our fingers against GB. If our guys can haul those in and our offense can capitalize, we should be able to pull the upset. And boy, would this one be about as sweet as they come.
