Patrick Mahomes continues his journey to become the best quarterback in the NFL, as he has already achieved what many can only dream of.

The superstar player enters his ninth season with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2025 and his eighth year as the starter (2018-25).

The former Texas Tech standout is the youngest player ever to win both a league MVP and a Vince Lombardi trophy. He is also the first player in the 21st century to win both the league MVP and the Super Bowl MVP in the same season (2022).

Mahomes might have finally found Tyreek Hill’s replacement

The Kansas City Chiefs shared footage of Patrick Mahomes launching a deep pass to young wide receiver Xavier Worthy, sparking flashbacks of the Tyreek Hill era. It was only a training camp play, but fans got excited to see the connection between the quarterback and a flashy wideout.

Worthy – a former Texas Longhorns superstar – adjusted mid-air to reel in the slightly underthrown pass, showcasing elite body control and speed that could redefine the Chiefs‘ offense.

Mahomes hasn’t had a receiver with this kind of breakaway speed since Hill left for the Miami Dolphins. And with iconic head coach Andy Reid reportedly telling Worthy to “get his hamstrings ready,” Kansas City fans might be watching the rise of a new deep-threat duo.

Patrick is ranked as the best quarterback in the NFL

Despite getting blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX 40-22 and playing one of the worst games of his professional career, Patrick Mahomes is ranked as the best quarterback in the NFL going into 2025 regular season, according to ESPN‘s annual positional rankings.

Mahomes still leads the NFL in virtually every passing category — from passing yards to touchdowns and yards per attempt — since becoming the starter in 2018. No quarterback was more efficient on third down than him last season. He led the NFL in third-down QBR (90.4) with a league-high 53.1% of his passing attempts resulting in first downs,” states ESPN.

Patrick tops the franchise’s career passing charts in multiple categories, ranking first in passer rating (102.1), passing attempts (4,171), completions (2,778), completion percentage (66.6%), passing yards (32,352), passing touchdowns (245), 300-yard passing games (48), among many other impressive stats.
