DeMarvion Overshown remains injured but makes a direct impact within the Dallas Cowboys | Marca

Although DeMarvion Overshown’s injury prematurely ended his 2024 campaign with the Dallas Cowboys, the linebacker remains a relevant presence within the team despite being in the process of rehabilitation from ACL, MCL and PCL tears suffered in December against the Bengals. Overshown has not abandoned the daily work with his teammates in training camp in Oxnard, California.

His impact does not go unnoticed, even without physically participating in drills, Overshown remains active with the coaching staff, contributing to defensive planning and as a motivating figure for his teammates. His commitment and leadership, even off the field, has been highlighted by the Cowboys’ coaches and locker room.

Overshown: A defensive mind active despite injury

Head coach Brian Schottheimer praised Overshown’s attitude during his recovery process, noting that his approach has been impeccable: “Stud, attack is the right word, he has attacked his rehab from the beginning. He demands everyone who trains with him,” the coach said, his strategic involvement has also increased, working closely with new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.

The best thing is that we will see him spend more time with Flus. He can’t practice, but he can still learn… even run some plays

Brian Schottheimer.

This preparation could make him an eventual green helmet leader, a device given to the player who receives defensive signals.

What is expected of Overshown when he returns to the field with the Cowboys?

Before his injury, Overshown recorded 90 tackles, five quarterback sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and even a touchdown, showing his potential as one of the most explosive linebackers in the league. In fact, several executives and scouts have already ranked him among the top 10 linebackers heading into the 2025 season, despite not yet having returned to the field.

The player himself has set a goal of returning by the end of November, a window that could align perfectly with the end of the regular season and the start of the postseason. In that scenario, Overshown would not only be a physical reinforcement, but also an element mentally prepared to read schemes, adjust plays and assume greater responsibility on defense.
