BREAKING : Patriots Reportedly Eager to Trade for Unhappy Star WR

The New England Patriots did an admirable job of revamping their roster in the offseason. Head coach Mike Vrabel made an effort to put his stamp on the roster, moving on from long-time veterans who have been a part of consistent losing over the last few seasons, and brought in players with whom he is more familiar.

While the team looks deeper and more talented on paper, big holes remain, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Most of the upgrades were made on the defensive unit, while Drake Maye’s weapons on the other end still leave some to be desired.

Fortunately for Patriots fans, the team is looking to add more on the trade market per the latest report by NFL insider Albert Breer. The Patriots are reportedly “very interested” in trading for Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin if he were to become available.

Patriots Reportedly Eyeing WR Terry McLaurin

This comes on the heels of McLaurin asking for a new contract in Washington as he enters the final season of the three-year deal he signed in 2022. The 29-year-old receiver has voiced his frustration with the franchise that he has been with since he was drafted in 2019.

The expectation around the league is that McLaurin will ask for a trade if he can’t get the new deal he is looking for with the Commanders.

The two-time Pro Bowler would immediately be the best wide receiver on the Patriots roster. McLaurin has been one of the most consistent players in the league throughout his six-year tenure, never missing games, and consistently putting up 75-catch, 1,000-yard seasons. What makes it more impressive is that McLaurin achieved these numbers with highly questionable quarterbacks, until the team drafted Jayden Daniels in 2024.

With Daniels, McLaurin hit new heights, putting up a career-high 13 touchdowns last season. What he could do with an elite quarterback should be enough to entice the Patriots to pair him with Drake Maye.

McLaurin’s level of consistency and production is something the Patriots can’t realistically expect from any of their playmakers, especially considering that Stefon Diggs is coming off a torn ACL. That’s why Patriots fans need to hope that the organization will be aggressive in its pursuit of the Commanders star.
