Cowboys trade idea lands $21 million superstar pass rusher to replace Micah Parsons

Cowboys trade idea lands $21 million superstar pass rusher to replace Micah Parsons - Yahoo Sports

The Dallas Cowboys have a decision to make this offseason on what they want to do with star pass rusher Micah Parsons.

Parsons is entering the final year of his contract, but as of right now, the team and Parsons haven’t agreed to any long-term solution.

As time passes, Parsons will likely not receive a new contract and will enter the open market next season.

If Dallas is willing to let Parsons walk, then they need to find a backup plan for him and should try to figure that out this season. Some big-name pass rushers could be available for trade, and Cincinnati Bengals’ Trey Hendrickson could land in Dallas, according to Anthony Palacios from Last Word On Sports.

“The Dallas Cowboys have been stacking up on talent defensively ever since they hired new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus,” Palacios wrote. “After signing Jack Sanborn and trading for Kenneth Murray Jr., they have some type of life following Demarcus Lawrence’s departure. The hope is that they can extend Micah Parsons, but it would be interesting to see if Dallas could one day get Hendrickson to boost them to a well-rounded defensive line.”

Hendrickson has one year and $21 million left on his contract, and the reason he could be traded is that the Bengals don’t want to pay him.

The Cowboys would have to extend Hendrickson if they trade for him, but he would be cheaper to pay than Parsons since Hendrickson is over 30.
