BREAKING NEWS : 🚨 KC Insider Shuts Down 🔥 Viral Chiefs Trade Rumor Just Before Training Camp – What Does It Mean? 🤔

KC Reporter Shuts Down Popular Chiefs Trade Rumor Ahead of Camp

Kansas City Chiefs fans have been hypothesizing ways to trade former second-round wide receiver Skyy Moore for quite some time, and trade rumors and speculation involving the pass-catcher have been published as recently as this week ahead of training camp.

The reality is that a Moore trade is highly unlikely, being that every NFL team around the league knows he may not even make the roster come cutdown time. A-to-Z Sports Kansas City reporter Charles Goldman explained Moore’s lack of trade value during a mailbag article on July 2.

“I don’t see many teams lining up to surrender assets for a player who doesn’t even have 500 career receiving yards,” Goldman told a fan with blunt honesty. “Maybe they luck into a situation where they can get a player-for-player swap with someone else who needs a change of scenery.”

As Goldman alluded, the small chance of a Moore trade would get a similar type of player back in return, or a very low conditional draft pick, like a conditional seventh rounder. This would only occur if a team with a low-priority waiver wants Moore and doesn’t feel that they can get him with a waiver claim, but even that feels improbable.

Let this serve as a reminder that some Chiefs trade rumors are really just that, a rumor.

Skyy Moore’s Contract Increases Likelihood He Could Be Cut After Chiefs Camp

On July 1, Arrowhead Pride analyst Jared Sapp illustrated why Moore’s contract actually increases the likelihood of him being cut in 2025.

“While Moore’s $1.5 million salary for the final season of his rookie deal is hardly significant, nine currently rostered wide receivers have cheaper 2025 salaries,” Sapp began. “Like [cornerback Joshua] Williams, none of Moore’s 2025 base salary is guaranteed (he would leave behind about $543,000 in dead money from a signing bonus proration and a likely earned 2025 workout bonus).”

Including 2025 draft pick Jalen Royals, Sapp went on to point out that “in a deep receiving room, it is hard to see how Moore will differentiate himself from the field.”

“He has never developed a role on special teams, with only 55 career snaps on the third unit over three seasons,” the writer reasoned. “[Plus,] his lack of size limits his blocking upside, making him ill-suited for most three and four-wide receiver packages.”

Sapp concluded that “Moore will face heavy competition [at Chiefs camp] from cheaper players more experienced with the dirty-work responsibilities of a reserve wideout.”

Chiefs Rumor Predicts WR Skyy Moore Will Be Cut, Not Traded, in 2025

During the same mailbag article, Goldman told a fan that he does not expect Moore to make the initial 53-man roster.

“I don’t think Moore makes the 53-man roster in 2025 because the competition at wide receiver is at a different level compared to years past,” he said. Noting that it would take an “epic” training camp and preseason from Moore or injuries at WR to change that.

Having said that, Goldman did discuss the upside of keeping the underwhelming draft pick, despite his slight bump in salary.

“Moore adds some value in several ways,” he wrote. “The offensive coaching staff loves him because he knows all three wide receiver positions (X, Z, and Zebra) inside and out. He’s going to be in the right place at the right time, run the right routes, and all of that jazz.”

“[Moore] might not be the fastest or create the most separation, but they know he’ll be where he needs to be at a given time,” Goldman continued. “That’s no small feat either, ask Justyn Ross.”

Finally, he reminded that “Moore also has value on special teams as a kick and punt return specialist, which will be downplayed, but it’s essential.”
