2024

The Packers finished 11-6 in 2024 and placed third in the NFC North behind the Vikings and Lions. Green Bay snuck into the Wild Card as the seven seed, losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles 22-10.

Green Bay’s offense finished eighth in points per game last season, averaging 27.1 points per game. The rushing attack led the way, as RB Josh Jacobs tallied 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. As a team, the Packers averaged 146.8 rushing yards per contest, the fifth-most in the NFL.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Packers did a good job limiting opponents, allowing 19.9 points per game, the sixth fewest in the league. S Xavier McKinney finished second in the league with eight interceptions, and the Packers finished third in turnover differential (+12).

Offseason Changes

The Packers made some changes on both sides of the ball this offseason. They let go of long-time CB Jaire Alexander and brought in former Raiders CB Nate Hobbs on a four-year deal. They also added in the trenches, signing G Aaron Banks from the 49ers. Green Bay added speed in the draft, drafting WR Xavier Worthy out of Texas in the first round.

Besides Alexander, former first-round pick CB Eric Stokes signed with the Raiders. Starting C Josh Myers also departed in free agency, signing with the New York Jets.

Coaching Staff

Head coach Matt Lafleur has led the Packers since 2019. His 56 regular-season wins are tied for the second most in NFL history by a head coach in his first five seasons from 2019-2023, going 56-27 in that span. The Packers have made the playoffs five times in his six seasons at the helm.

Prior to his time in Green Bay, Lafleur was the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams, as well as the quarterbacks coach for the Atlanta Falcons, Notre Dame and the Washington Commanders.

Adam Stenavich has been with the Packers since 2019 as well, serving as the team’s offensive coordinator since 2022. Prior to his promotion, Stenavich served as the team’s offensive line coach and run game coordinator. He also spent time with the 49ers, San Jose State and the University of Michigan before coming to Green Bay.

Defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley enters his second season leading the Green Bay defense. He came to the Packers after four years as the head coach of Boston College.

Series History

The Packers and Bengals have played 14 times over history, and they have split the series evenly, 7-7.

What To Watch For

The Packers operated last year’s offense without a true number one receiver, as Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Dontavion Wicks and Romeo Doubs all led the unit at one time or another. Adding Worthy to the group will prove to be a good test for Cincinnati’s young secondary and new defensive coordinator Al Golden.

DT T.J. Slaton Jr. will also come up against his former team, as the Bengals’ free agent signing spent the first four years of his career anchoring the Green Bay defensive line.
