Travis Kelce is looking to find his best form and leave behind one of his worst seasons in the NFL.

Travis Kelce was not the same player during the past season, and the way his campaign ended with a painful Super Bowl loss with the Kansas City Chiefs led him to consider retirement. Ultimately, this didn’t happen, but now he faces the great challenge of proving he can improve his performance and once again be the key piece he was as Patrick Mahomes‘ primary target.
Much has been said about the weight of the tight end, who is destined to be a Hall of Famer, though this shouldn’t be a major concern according to the perspective of George Kittle.
George Kittle downplays the extra pounds
Kittle, another top player at the position, while collaborating with Kelce as a co-host at Tight End University, commented on the criticism regarding his colleague’s weight control.

“I’m pretty sure one of the Super Bowls they won, I saw him the previous offseason, and he was like 280 pounds,” Kittle told ESPN. “I think he was first-team All-Pro and won a Super Bowl, so he’s going to be ready for the season regardless of what it is. He does look great right now.”
During the 2024 season, Travis Kelce recorded some of his worst professional numbers, with 823 receiving yards and three touchdowns, his lowest figures since his rookie year. In the AFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl, he amassed just 58 yards total and two touchdowns.
In an effort to improve these numbers and rediscover his best version with the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce has worked hard this offseason with the intention of losing weight and continuing to be considered an elite player.
Kelce is one of the greatest tight ends of all time, with seven consecutive seasons surpassing 1,000 yards, five Super Bowl appearances, and consistently being an offensive threat for the Chiefs.
