The Kansas City Chiefs just completed mandatory minicamp this week, focusing on their return to the Super Bowl. They continue to be mentioned in offseason discussions regarding the team’s status going into the new season.
CBS Sports recently released an article outlining the best-case and worst-case scenarios for every team in the league.
“Best-case scenario: Patrick Mahomes’ O-line recovers from an ugly Super Bowl, a freshened-up pass catching corps led by Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice reignites the deep attack, and the dynasty captures yet another championship.
Wrote CBS Sports writer Cody Benjamin, who addressed the flipside of Mahomes being forced to scramble.
Worst-case scenario: The line is reworked but no less unstable, forcing Mahomes to scramble more than he’d like, and Andy Reid’s scheming can’t undo lingering injuries. They fail to make the Super Bowl for the first time in four years.”
The Chiefs have won nine consecutive division titles, the second-longest streak of division championships for any team in league history. Only the New England Patriots, who won 11 successive AFC East titles from 2009 to 2019, had a longer streak.
Mahomes has additional help on the offensive line with rookie left tackle Josh Simmons and the signing of veteran Jaylon Moore.
