FRISCO – Two of the more dynamic members of the Dallas Cowboys – one on offense and one on defense – are being monitored as the 3-6 club limps toward its “Monday Night Football” visit from the Houston Texans.
On an offense that will now be without Dak Prescott as he’s undergone season-ending hamstring surgery, receiver Brandin Cooks views himself as a helper. Two games ago, he was on social media promising, that he’s on “Go mode ” … and coach Mike McCarthy is now saying that Cooks’ return from his knee injury is possible.
On a defense that is now getting customarily blown out (especially coming out of halftime), keeping an eye on DeMarvion Overshown is a key.
At Wednesday’s workout here inside The Star, Overshown was practicing. … this after having exited the recent lopsided loss to the Eagles due to what has been called bursitis in his knee.
“He’s got a true warrior spirit, man,” said All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons of his teammate.
Meanwhile, on defense, safety Juanyeh Thomas is in final stages of concussion protocol and is starting to work. Among those not practicing today on defense: Trevon Diggs, DaRon Bland, Jourdan Lewis and Eric Kendricks.
While tackle Chuma Edoga is practicing with his 21-day window open, sitting out this workout on the offensive side were Hunter Luepke, Zack Martin and Tyler Smith
The Cowboys are nearly sitting in the basement of the NFC East after the drubbing at the hands of Philadelphia. They will be underdogs this week against Houston and next week against another NFC East foe in Washington … and at some point, “Organic Tanking” will be considered.
But for the moment? Dallas is hoping for some recovery and potential roster adjustments in order to stay competitive in the division and stave off further setbacks.
