Kansas City ChiefsĀ quarterbackĀ Patrick MahomesĀ will be tasked with leading the revenge tour in 2025, and he’s going to need his No. 1 go-to guy to follow him.
After a poor season, from a statistical standpoint, some think tight endĀ Travis KelceĀ doesn’t have much juice in the tank, yet the future Hall of Famer is coming back for a 13thĀ NFLĀ season.
Considering Travis had his lowest yards total (823) and touchdowns (three) since his rookie season, there is a need for Kelce to remind the football world he’s still got it.
But while some are skeptical about what Kelce can do in 2025, Patrick isn’t.
“I expect Travis to be Travis,”Ā Mahomes said.”Obviously, the play on the field is going to be high, he’s going to go out there with the mentality that we’re trying to win theĀ Super BowlĀ this year. I think more than anything, it’s the leadership that he brings to the building every single day, how he leads by example. It’s a big impact on our football team. I expect him to play at a high level and be an even better leader.”

So Mahomes doesn’t seem concerned and after all, he is the one who sees Travis work day in and day out, but for most, until the tight end proves it on the field, there are going to be question marks over how valuable he can be to Andy Reid’s offense.
He’s reportedly dropped 25 pounds and has come into minicamp leaner than last season, in an attempt to get back into the sort of shape that will allow him to be “Kelce” again.
If the Chiefs are going to avenge their Super Bowl loss to theĀ Philadelphia EaglesĀ and claim it for themselves, then Kelce is going to have to be the Pro Bowl tight end we know him to be.
And Mahomes has zero doubt that’s who we’ll get.
