All things considered, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are still a legitimate contender for the Super Bowl title in the 2025 NFL season. Although they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles last February, the Chiefs can still be viewed as a gold standard in the NFL when it comes to being a consistent threat to the rest of the league.

However, playing long seasons consecutively comes at a price, as noted by former Super Bowl champion Joe Theismann.

“I think it takes a toll because you play a lot more football than everybody else,” said Theismann (courtesy of Ed Easton Jr. of Chiefs Wire ). “You look at the Kansas City Chiefs when you really look at what they’ve done over the last five years, they’ve played at least a season more than anybody else because of the additional playoff games, the Super Bowl, and the shortness of the off season from a recovery standpoint, both mentally and physically.”

Dating back to the 2018 NFL season, the Chiefs have reached at least the AFC Championship Game every year. They’ve played in the Super Bowl in each of the last three seasons.

With Mahomes still running the show for the Chiefs’ offense and barring anything serious that would keep him off the field, Kansas City is assured of elite quarterback play in 2025, which is already a huge plus for the reigning AFC champions.

It’s a challenge to reach the Super Bowl, let alone do it multiple times in a row, but at the same time, Andy Reid and Kansas City are amidst a dynastic run that still runs on an all-time coach-QB duo.
