BREAKING: Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Reveals Contract Update

For Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons to get a new contract, it’s up to Jerry Jones to make a move.

Micah Parsons Ignites Cowboys' Defense Amid NFL Contract Buzz

Dallas Cowboys’ pass-rushing linebacker Micah Parsons was in attendance at minicamp, although he didn’t participate in any drills.

Call it a hold in if you will, as he seeks a new contract.

Having already exchanged proposals weeks ago, there appears to be a general understanding of what the ballpark figure for Micah’s contract will be, at roughly $40 million APY and $200 million in total.

Being at minicamp was a loose deadline for Parsons to finalize his deal, but Micah revealed that, at the end of the day, whether or not his contract gets sorted out is down to whether Jerry Jones will pick up the phone and call his agent to work out the details.

“Yeah, I mean that’s what it kind of come down to,” Parsons said. “He gives the green light, he’s the owner, he’s pretty much what it takes to get anything done anywhere around here. So it’s up to him, but like I said I’m going still keep playing football, I’m going to keep showing up and preparing like any other year.”

So the contract ball is metaphorically in Jerry’s court.

It is clear how eager Micah is to get this contract saga finished, but he is doing all that is asked of him in the meantime, being in and out of OTAs, in team meetings, and at minicamp, offering to coach up his teammates and watch film with them after practice.

As Jerry once famously said to our Mike Fisher, “Deadlines make deals,” and while minicamp wasn’t the line in the sand moment for Micah and his contract, training camp might be.

And for all this to be settled, according to Micah’s words, Jerry has a rather simple thing to do: pick up the phone and move this forward toward a resolution.
