The Cowboys vice president said there was nothing left for the team in the NFL market, but he never mentioned the UFL.

Stephen Jones could sign one of the stars of the UFL’s Arlington Renegades.
Hold the phone, Cowboys Nation! Just when COO Stephen Jones declared a lull in NFL free agency and trade talks, he dropped a bombshell: the Dallas Cowboys are once again “sniffing around” the UFL for potential talent.
This isn’t just a casual glance; Dallas has a proven track record of transforming UFL standouts into NFL stars, and fans are already buzzing about who could be next to make the leap.
“We’re watching that in terms of those guys doing a good job over there and we’ll see if there’s anybody who can help us there and we’ll just keep our eyes on what might become available,” Jones revealed, hinting at another potential gem in the making.
The Cowboys’ history with UFL talent is undeniable. All-Pros KaVontae Turpin and Brandon Aubrey both launched their professional careers in the league before becoming integral parts of “America’s Team.” The question on everyone’s mind is: who could be the next Cinderella story?

QB room shake-up?
One name making serious waves is local product, quarterback Luis Perez. The “Spring King” led the Arlington Renegades to a league championship not long ago and just clinched the UFL’s passing title this past season with 2,298 yards in 10 games.
Some analysts are now openly wondering if the Cowboys should take a chance on Perez, who has cemented his status as one of the UFL’s top players since the league’s inception two years ago.
While a move for Perez might initially be seen as adding a “camp arm” to assist with drills, his remarkable journey and recent UFL dominance suggest a higher ceiling. A strong showing could earn him a coveted spot on the practice squad or even a full-time roster position.
The top two quarterback spots in Dallas are firmly held by the NFL’s highest-paid player, Dak Prescott, and the promising, recently acquired Joe Milton III. However, the addition of Perez could introduce competition for Will Grier, currently the Cowboys’ third-string QB.
From Spring King to star?
Perez’s personal story is nothing short of incredible. He didn’t play high school football, was an amateur bowler, and taught himself how to play quarterback using YouTube tutorials.
This self-made journey propelled him to star at Division II Texas A&M Commerce, play in five different professional leagues (including stints on four NFL practice squads), and even author a best-selling biography about his experiences.
Now, his improbable career could come full circle if he signs with theCowboys, who play literally across the street from Choctaw Stadium, where Perez became the face of the UFL with the Renegades. Could this be the ultimate homecoming for the Spring King?
