The Cincinnati Bengals are hoping for a bounce-back year after ending last season 9-8 and watching the postseason from home.

While the offense performed admirably, landing in the top 10 for most statistical categories, the only deficiency was the rushing attack, which finished 30th (92.6 rypg). The Bengals were sixth in scoring (27.8 ppg), ninth in yards (365.5 ypg) and first in passing yards (272.9 pypg).

But it was the defense that failed miserably in 2024.

The Cincinnati defensive unit finished 35th in points allowed (25.5 ppg), 25th in yards (348.29 ypg), 21st in passing yards (223.47 pypg) and 19th in rushing yards (124.82 rypg).

For a turnaround, the defense will have to improve drastically.

But newly extended wideout Tee Higgins thinks the offense could be even better next season, thanks partly to his health.

“I plan on staying healthy,” Higgins said, “Let’s not say ‘if.’ I plan on it. When I do, definitely could be deadly.”

Last season, the Clemson product was limited to 12 games due to a hamstring injury, a quadriceps strain and an ankle injury.

He also discussed wanting to “do what they paid me to do,” referencing his four-year, $115 million contract extension.

Even though he was limited last season, he still managed to post 911 yards on 73 catches with a career-high 10 touchdowns.

Over his five-year career – all with the Bengals – Higgins has registered 330 receptions for 4,595 yards and 34 scores.
