The Kansas City Chiefs squeaked out a 16-14 win on Sunday after finding yet another way to win during their 15-game winning streak, which extends into last season.
The Denver Broncos were attempting a game-winning field goal as time was expiring, but the Chiefs blocked the attempt, sealing their 15th consecutive win overall and pushing their record to 9-0 this season.
The Chiefs have had to play this season without many of their key players who suffered injuries. But this week, the team got some good news.
Both running back Isiah Pacheco and defensive end Charles Omenihu are set to return to practice this week per reports.
It’s unclear if either will suit up for Sunday’s AFC matchup with the Bills in Buffalo, but both will be eligible to do so.
Pacheco appeared in the first two games of the season but fractured his fibula in Week 2. Omenihu had the third-most sacks on the team last year but tore an ACL in the AFC Championship game in Baltimore in February.
Despite all the injury issues, Kansas City is 9-0 and in good shape to lock down the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC with a win over the Bills this week.
That will set them up nicely for an opportunity to become the first team in the history of the league to win three straight Super Bowls.
The Bills and Chiefs kick off at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday on CBS.
