BREAKING NEWS : Chiefs’ ‘Nightmare’ Season Scenario Feels Inevitable to Critics

Kansas City Chiefs' 'Nightmare' Season Scenario Feels Inevitable to Critics - Athlon Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t been the well-oiled machine we have come to expect over the past couple of seasons, with the offense taking a back seat and the defense being the driving force.

Still, despite not being as “good,” the Chiefs won back-to-back Super Bowls. In Year 3, they won 15 regular-season games and returned to the Super Bowl again.

But many have the Chiefs regressing in 2025, and for Bleacher Report, in what the publication calls a nightmare season, the franchise sees the cracks in the roster become glaring.

“The other shoe drops for an increasingly shallow roster and a struggling quarterback, and the law of averages kicks in for a team that has won 17 consecutive one-score games,” Bleacher Report writes.

Chiefs may have just turned their biggest weakness into a nightmare for rest of NFL

Just looking at last season, out of the 15 regular-season games the Chiefs won, 11 were by one score. History will tell us that this kind of success is hard to replicate.

Even if the Chiefs do lose another couple of games and go 11-6, is that a nightmare season? We hardly think so.

A true nightmare scenario is missing the playoffs altogether, so the “law of averages” that Bleacher Report speaks about is true, and it isn’t feasible for the Chiefs to go undefeated in one-score games again.

But that wouldn’t constitute a nightmare season for Andy Reid’s team. Would losing the division title? Possibly. Missing the playoffs? Yeah, that is a nightmare for a Chiefs team that, while it has its question marks over the roster, is still considered a top team in the AFC and perennial playoff contender.
