The Pittsburgh Steelers may need a new wide receiver before the start of the 2025 regular season.

Green Bay Packers Trade Rumor Brings Romeo Doubs to Aaron Rodgers' Pittsburgh Steelers - Athlon Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers traded away star wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys earlier this offseason, so the team could be looking to make a move for a receiver to fill his place.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport, he lists one player that every NFL team could consider trading away before the start of the 2025 season. For the Green Bay Packers, he thinks they could deal wide receiver Romeo Doubs, and the Steelers could be a potential suitor.

“There are no shortage of teams with passing-game deficiencies (looking at you, Pittsburgh), so if the Packers really do decide to shop Doubs, finding a trade partner shouldn’t be especially difficult,” Davenport wrote.

The Steelers finally have their starting quarterback after Aaron Rodgers informed the team he intends to sign with them, so they are looking to give him more weapons for the 2025 season.

And they traded with Seattle for DK Metcalf, of course.

Do they need more?

Doubs finished the 2024 season with 601 yards and four touchdowns, which is not too bad considering he started in just 12 games. The Packers selected Texas receiver Matthew Golden in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, which means they have their fair share of young wideouts.

And Doubs may be the odd man out.

If the Packers decide they want to trade the 25-year-old receiver, the Steelers may be one of the teams who might make a few calls to try and acquire him. Whatever gives their new quarterback the best weapons is something that should be in the team’s best interests.
