BREAKING : Browns sign second rookie QB. 1 draft pick remains unsigned

Cleveland Browns sign rookie QB Dillon Gabriel - Dawgs By Nature

The Cleveland Browns signed quarterback Dillon Gabriel to his rookie contract on Wednesday.

Gabriel is the sixth of Cleveland’s seven draft picks to sign, leaving running back Quinshon Judkins as the lone draft pick still unsigned.

Cleveland surprised a lot of people when they selected Gabriel in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He spent six seasons across three teams in college, starting with three years at the University of Central Florida, two years at Oklahoma, and finishing up at Oregon, where he led the Ducks to the Big Ten Championship, pocketed Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year honors, and finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting.

Gabriel finished his collegiate career as the all-time FBS leader in total touchdowns with 189 and tied Case Keenum for the all-time record in passing touchdowns with 155.

With the Browns, Gabriel will enter training camp in a four-way battle for a roster spot with veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, along with fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders.

Being in a competition is nothing new to Gabriel, as he explained in May during rookie minicamp:

“It’s not new to me. I’ve done it at every stop, and I’ve done it at every level. So, thank goodness for that and great preparation in that. But also know that, you know, my competition is yesterday. How can I be better than I was yesterday? So that’s what I’m focused on and continue to create an environment that you want to be a part of and that’s all you can do.”

The four-year contract is worth just a bit more than $6.2 million, according to the league’s rookie contract slotting.
