Andy Reid picks out Chiefs star who has put on 'good weight' during offseason

KANSAS City Chiefs coach Andy Reid singled out one player who ‘looks tremendous.’

Reid and the Chiefs are in the early stages of their preparation for the 2025 season.

Isiah Pacheco #10 of the Kansas City Chiefs running with the football.

The reigning AFC Champions will be back for mandatory minicamp.

Head coach Reid has already gotten a look at his stars at the team’s OTAs last week.

And he spoke to reporters about running back Isiah Pacheco.

“He looks good,” Reid said about the 26-year-old.

“Physically, he looks real good.

“He’s put on a couple pounds of good weight.

“He’d gotten himself down there a little bit last year and leaned up.

“But, man, I think he looks tremendous right now.”

Pacheco missed nine games in 2024 with a fractured bone in his foot.

The running back is in the final year of his current contract.

He played a key role in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl wins in the two seasons prior to that.

Heading into his fourth season, Pacheco is keen to get back to his 2022 version.

He ran a 4.37-second 40-yard dash in the combine and made the Chiefs backfield his own in his rookie year.

The 26-year-old revealed how he’s gained weight back this year which he lost during injury rehab.

“Just going back to 216lbs, 4.37 Isiah Pacheco-style,” he said.

Pacheco returned from injury late in the season last year.

Pacheco said, “You’re out there working your tail off and just sweating every day and not eating enough to get the weight back.

“There’s not going to be as much time to gain weight during the season.

“Rather than the offseason and the whole program that they have here for us.”
