Ahead of the 2025 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers have a major problem on their hands. It’s a good problem to have, but the team has too many talented wide receivers and not enough playing time for them.
In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Packers went out and brought in both Matthew Golden in the first round and Savion Williams in the third round. Both receivers appear likely to make the roster and carve out roles for themselves.
Outside of the two rookies, Green Bay has Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, and Jayden Reed on the roster. There is no chance that all six wide receivers can get the kind of playing time they deserve. Could that lead to a potential trade?
One of the talented wide receivers has been named a possible trade asset for the team leading up to the 2025 season.
Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report has named Wicks a “top trade asset” for the Packers at this point in time.
Wicks is coming off of a tough all-around season. He struggled with drops and was unable to get firing on all cylinders. That has brought up reason for concern with the wide receiver room now even more loaded.

Throughout the course of the 2024 NFL season, Wicks caught 39 passes on 76 targets to go along with 415 yards and five touchdowns. Those numbers were not the breakout season that many were expecting from the 23-year-old wideout.
It’s very possible that Green Bay will make some kind of wide receiver trade before the 2025 season begins. Watson likely won’t be that player due to the injury that he’s coming off of and Reed isn’t going to be moved right now. That leaves Doubs and Wicks as the most likely candidates.
Only time will tell, but this is a situation for Packers fans to watch closely as the season draws closer.
