The Detroit Lions have one of the best rosters in the league and look to take another step forward in 2025. Last season, they went a franchise-best 15-2 but were sent home in the divisional round.

The Lions had Ben Johnson leave town this offseason and replaced him with John Morton. Earlier in the month, Morton said he doesn’t plan on making many changes to the offensive scheme. Penei Sewell also added that the offense hasn’t missed a beat.

No Excuses Can Be Made for Jameson Williams as Lions OTAs Begin

With the expectation that the Lions’ offense will hit the ground running, receiver Jameson Williams has no excuses for the 2025 season.

Last season, the Alabama product posted career-highs in catches (58), receiving yards (1,001), and touchdowns (7). He also averaged 17.3 yards per reception.

Even though Johnson isn’t calling the plays, it sounds like Williams will be utilized in a similar manner. The Lions know that Amon Ra St. Brown will be the No. 1 option in the passing attack but Williams have speed that can’t be matched on this team.

He’s heading into his fourth year in the league and is looking for an extension. In order to get that, he will have to put another year of great film on tape.

The 24-year-old is playing with the same guys around him and will be running similar route concepts as well. Morton made it clear he doesn’t plan on changing much, and why should he? The Lions were ranked second in the league in total offense (409.5) and passing offense (263.2). They were also first in scoring offense (33.2).

Williams knows what he should do in 2025, and the Lions are expecting excellent. His first two years were filled with injuries, suspension, and inconsistent play. He finally broke out in 2024, and he has no excuse not to continue that level of play next season.
