The Cleveland Browns have a four-way quarterback battle brewing with training camp just two months away. All of the veterans, Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders will be allowed to win the starting job under center.
Ahead of this sure-to-be wild battle, ESPN’s Adam Schefter has given his prediction on how it will play out. Speaking with Chris Canty on “Unsportsmanlike,” Schefter stated:
“I know there are five quarterbacks, but I don’t factor Deshaun Watson… It’s hard to imagine all four will make it… most teams don’t do that… So you have to figure that they will carry three, and you have to figure that there will be an odd man out. My guess would be that they are going to go through the summer, and Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett will sort of be vying for that roster spot. And by the way, I think the winner starts to start the season, and the loser maybe winds up on a team that might need a quarterback, and they wind up trading one of those guys.”

Schefter went on to say that he does not think either rookie, Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel, will win the starting job out of camp, but does not close the door on either of them potentially wowing the Browns this summer. It’s a good bet to make that only three of the quarterbacks will be rostered.
How it plays out is going to be interesting.
