The Chicago Bears have made some impressive moves during the offseason. The focus has been on putting weapons around Caleb Williams for Ben Johnson to use offensively, but the Bears’ defense has also improved.

On paper, the Bears should be much better than they were a season ago, but this fan base wants to see it before they believe it.

With some veteran players departing, it’s possible that there will be some struggles from the Bears still.

One of them is Demarcus Walker, who is still on the free agency market.

It remains uncertain if a team wants to take a chance on him or if he could return to the Bears, but there might be another team in the NFC North interested in taking a look at him. Moe Moton of Bleacher Report named that team the Detroit Lions.

“DeMarcus Walker moved between the defensive line and outside linebacker early in his career with the Denver Broncos. After settling in as an edge-rusher, he’s provided quality depth and started in 29 games over the last two seasons with the Chicago Bears.

“The Lions cut Za’Darius Smith. Marcus Davenport has missed 28 games over the previous two terms. Walker would be a more reliable starter and rotational pass-rusher opposite Aidan Hutchinson, who’s working his way back from a fractured tibia and fibula,” he wrote.

The last thing the Bears want is to lose a free agent to the Lions and see them find success. It’s tough to say that Walker would be a great addition for the Lions, but he was decent for the Bears last year, starting in 17 games and posting 47 combined tackles.
