BREAKING : Green Bay Packers HC Speaks Out Amid Surprising Concerns From Former 2nd-Round Pick

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers finally drafted a wide receiver in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. For the first time since 2002, Matthew Golden was selected by the team with the No. 23 overall pick.

Golden will have an opportunity to carve out an immediate role for himself with the Packers. His skill-set will fit nicely alongside Jordan Love and the rest of the wide receiver room. However, the pick did come with some concerns.

Jayden Reed, a second-round pick from the 2023 NFL Draft, was worried about his role. Green Bay drafted Golden in the first round and backed that up with Savion Williams in the third round. That didn’t make Reed feel very comfortable.

It has been reported that he brought his concerns to the Packers’ front office. Things have since quieted down and Reed seems to be pleased with what he was told after bringing up his concerns.

Green Bay Packers Matt LaFleur Speaks Out Amid Surprising Concerns From Jayden Reed

Matt LaFleur spoke out after learning of Reed’s concerns. He was surprised to hear of them.

“I gotta say, the first time I saw that, it was a surprise to me because he never once said a word to me,” LaFleur said. “He’s coaching up Matthew Golden— he’s a guy I don’t have to worry about.”

During the 2024 NFL season, Reed played a huge role within Green Bay’s offense. He caught 55 passes for 857 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 15.6 yards per reception. He also picked up 163 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

As a rookie in 2023, Reed racked up 64 receptions for 793 yards and eight touchdowns.

Even with the new wide receiver talent in town, Reed is going to be a huge difference maker for the Packers long-term. His chemistry with Love has been clear over the last two years and the sky is the limit as he continues growing and developing his game.
