🔥 Patrick Mahomes’ Contract Just Got Even More Valuable for the Chiefs 💰 – Here’s Why Fans Are Calling It a Steal!

Patrick Mahomes' contract just became even more of a bargain for the Kansas City Chiefs following latest QB mega-deal

We are coming up on the fifth anniversary of Patrick Mahomes signing a legendary 10-year, $450 million contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Even though we all knew Mahomes would eventually become the highest-paid player in NFL history, many jaws were dropped when those numbers were revealed. To this day, Mahomes is still at the top when it comes to total contract value, but isn’t even in the top 10 in average per year.

Mahomes comes in at 14th on that list, and only one above him (Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts) has won a Super Bowl. The newest member of that list is San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy, who was just given a  five-year, $256 million contract extension.

The Chiefs have stayed vigilant in keeping Mahomes fairly compensated, restructuring his deal back in 2023 to pay him $210.6 million up until 2026. That’s the most money over a four-year span in NFL history, and his salary during that timeframe is guaranteed.

The Chiefs and Mahomes will likely re-evaluate his deal again in 2026 and make the proper adjustments. As reported by NFL insider James Palmer, the Chiefs and Mahomes are in constant contact with each other on where things stand with his contract.

Kansas City’s front office, led by general manager Brett Veach, has done a masterclass job of taking care of Mahomes and still having enough wiggle room within the salary cap to keep the Chiefs’ roster well-rounded. Mahomes is also doing quite well for himself with endorsements and business ventures off the field.

Mahomes has seven years left on his contract, which runs through the 2031 season. Barring anything crazy happening, K.C. will almost certainly look to extend him again before his deal expires. It will be fascinating to see what the QB market will be by then, but Mahomes has stated that he may not want to play into his 40s. He’ll be 36 by the start of the 2032 season, so he may finish his career on a short-term extension.
