UPDATE: Ezekiel Elliott Hit With Harsh Messages After Cowboys-Eagles

Ezekiel Elliott Hit With Harsh Messages After Cowboys-Eagles - Athlon Sports

With quarterback Dak Prescott out with an injury, backup Cooper Rush took over the starting role in Week 10 of the 2024 NFL season as the Dallas Cowboys were blown out at home, 34-6, against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, who did not travel with the team in Week 9’s loss against the Atlanta Falcons due to disciplinary reasons, made his return to the field against the NFC East rival.

In the game, Elliott, who had lost the starting job to Rico Dowdle early in the season, didn’t receive much action as Dallas’ second back, recording just six carries for 22 yards.

The biggest (negative) impact the former Ohio State star had was a big fumble inside the Philadelphia 5-yard line during his first drive of the contest, costing his team points when the game was still close. This play also prevented the Cowboys from taking momentum.

Cowboys general manager Jerry Jones elected to bring back Elliott over the offseason despite his lackluster play in 2022, his last season in Dallas. But the signing has been disappointing, as the 29-year-old has slowed down significantly more and has shown signs of locker room issues.

Many NFL and Cowboys fans are tired of Zeke after another disastrous performance, taking to social media to leave their harsh comments.

“Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has not had a game where he has averaged over 3.8 YPA since Week 1. It’s time to get him off the roster,” one fan said.

“I’ll be happy to see no more of Cooper Rush and Ezekiel Elliott for the rest of the year”

“Ezekiel Elliott why!? Why are still playing!? Please leave!! Please!!!!!!”

“Cowboys were in the game until Zeke fumbled. Jerry is the guy that brought him back and Jerry alone is to blame!”

“Cowboys are a disaster. Good. And by the way. Get Zeke and Tolbert off my team.”

“On any other team, with any other owner/President/GM, Zeke would have been gone a while ago…”

In seven games this season, Elliott has recorded just 48 carries for 149 yards, averaging a measly 3.1 yards per carry and two scores. The one-time first-team All-Pro will certainly go down as one of the best in Dallas history, but now, it may be time to move on for good.
