BREAKING: Ravens, Chiefs Could Be Fighting For Same Trade Target

The Green Bay Packers want to trade cornerback Jaire Alexander, and the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs could be potential suitors

Jaire Alexander Trade

Chances are, the Green Bay Packers will trade or release cornerback Jaire Alexander before the start of the 2025 regular season. Once considered to be among the game’s elite playmakers at the position, the first-round pick has struggled to stay on the field over the past two seasons. Limited to just 14 games since the start of 2023, Alexander carries a staggering $24.6 million cap hit and has no guaranteed money remaining on his contract. While he’s still a good player when healthy, he’s not worth this massive paycheck.

The Packers will probably dump Jaire Alexander for cap space, as they can save over $17 million if they trade him after June 1st. While it may be difficult to find suitors at such a high price, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report believes the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens are the most likely potential fits.

Chiefs, Ravens Could Trade For Packers Jaire Alexander

The Kansas City Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl last year, but suffered a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. While the mismatch in the trenches was at the heart of this one-sided affair, the reigning AFC champions must also improve their secondary. Former first-round pick Trent McDuffie is one of the game’s premier players, and Jaylen Watson had a strong season when he was healthy. Two good cornerbacks are enough to get this team into the playoffs, but they might not be enough to hoist another Lombardi Trophy.

Kansas City plays in arguably the NFL’s hardest division with the Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, and Las Vegas Raiders. If that wasn’t enough, they also share a conference with Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills, Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens, and Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals. These elite passing attacks have the potential to put up 40 points on any given Sunday, and a trade for Jaire Alexander could help slow these offenses in a high-leverage situation.

More Reinforcements In Baltimore

Nobody believes in the power of a deep secondary more than the Baltimore Ravens. Marlon Humphrey finished the 2024 season with an impressive 79.0 PFF grade, the seventh-best mark in the league, while first-round pick Nate Wiggins appears to be a featured part of this organization moving forward. However, much like the Chiefs, this team could use a third option to increase its odds of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

The Ravens have been one of the best teams in football since Lamar Jackson took over midway through the 2018 season, but they have yet to make a Super Bowl since the Joe Flacco days. After coming mere yards away from the opportunity in 2023 and 2024, it’s time for the organization to put all the chips in the middle for 2025. If he stays healthy, a Jaire Alexander trade would give the Baltimore Ravens the deepest secondary in football. When paired with a loaded front seven and an elite offense, this team should have all the pieces it needs to finally return to the game’s biggest stage in 2025.
