The Detroit Lions have dipped into the local talent pool of players from the Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans, Eastern Michigan Eagles, and other schools often, employing recent players including Aidan Hutchinson, TJ Lang and more.
Another former Wolverines star who came through the Lions’ Allen Park and Detroit based facilities was Donovan Peoples-Jones, a Detroit, Michigan native and former five-star high school football recruit who starred with the Wolverines during his time in Ann Arbor.
On Tuesday, Peoples-Jones shared a message with his 87,000 plus readers on social media as he revealed a major life update that drew plenty of attention.

“As of today: Officially 2 years sober from alcohol. Kind of strange to say but lol it’s the truth!
“1 Peter 5:8-9,” Peoples-Jones concluded sharing a Bible verse with his followers.
Peoples-Jones was released by the Lions in August 2024 and has not recorded an NFL statistic since then.
He had a career-high 839 yards receiving with the Cleveland Browns on 61 receptions in 2022 before ending up in Detroit.
A graduate of Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Peoples-Jones had a career-high eight touchdowns with the Wolverines in 2018.
The post drew over 47,000 views and nearly 100 comments after it was revealed as of late Tuesday afternoon.
