BREAKING NEWS : New Revelation in Dak Prescott Injury Saga

Injured Dak Prescott Visiting New York Doctor Before Final Dallas Cowboys Season-Ending Surgery Decision - Athlon Sports

ARLINGTON – To Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott’s credit, he is turning over every stone in search of a medical opinion that would delay the seemingly inevitable. So as Cooper Rush is today getting his first start since 2022 – an assignment that figures to be first of many for the rest of this season – Prescott is seeking one more opinion.

Multiple reports say Prescott will be in New York on Monday to seek more information from doctors on his torn-off-the-bone hamstring injury sustained in last week’s lost at Atlanta.

The Cowboys seem to be convinced that IR is wise and that surgery might be as well.

“Right now, I don’t think anyone knows whether it will be four weeks, six weeks or the season,” COO Stephen Jones said. “We’ll just have to continue to monitor that and see where it takes us.”

Meanwhile, Rush on Sunday going up against the only team to beat him in his career as a starter – the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rush took over for a four-game stretch in 2022 with Prescott suffering a hand injury and Cooper played good football…until the Eagles game.

Without a turnover in his first three games, Rush then had three interceptions in the 26-17 loss, and he remembers what it was like in Philadelphia over a year ago.

“I remember a tough first half, fell down there,” Rush said. “Was really proud how we came back and was a very good defense, very good Philly team. Obviously you want throws back and things like that but it’s always fun playing up in Philly, it’s a cool environment, so I’ll be excited to play against them again.”

With Dan Quinn’s defense to fall back on, Rush did mount a comeback after being down 20-3 at halftime. Two second-quarter interceptions allowed the Eagles to have a commanding lead.

Rush tightened things up in the second half, bringing the Cowboys back to trail 20-17. The Eagles scored a touchdown yet missed the two-point conversion, making it a nine-point game with a little over five minutes remaining.

Rush would then be picked off a third time to end the game late on, but there was something positive to build on.

Now playing at AT&T Stadium, Rush will use that experience to help lead the Cowboys to what would be an unlikely victory against their fierce rivals. … while Dak packs for a road trip of a different kind.
