BREAKING : Lions Show Young Playmaker the Door After NFL Draft Moves

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff (16) throws a pass during the second half at Ford Field in Detroit on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024.

One of the many positions that the impressive Detroit Lions front office prioritized during this offseason was the wide receiver group. Losing Josh Reynolds hurt last offseason, yet general manager Brad Holmes ensured that playmakers remain on the offense.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond, rookie Isaac Teslaa, and more have established spots in the position group. Even still, the front office and coaching staff have brought several exciting players in over the years, highlighted by Tim Patrick, who won fans over with his excellent efforts both in practices and games.

The Lions clearly are good at identifying these types of talents. Unfortunately, they’ve just let go of an exciting wideout who hopes to catch on with a different contender moving forward.

Lions Officially Waive WR Antoine Green After NFL Draft

In an official post released by the organization’s X account, the Lions have waived wide receiver Antoine Green. The transaction came on Tuesday shortly after the NFL Draft. Originally a seventh-round pick by the organization in the 2023 event, Green hasn’t garnered much attention on a national level.

Unfortunately, he’s failed to catch a pass in a professional game to this point. The 6-foot-2, 199-pound playmaker out of North Carolina could make a difference, yet it’d be the first he’s made. Even though the Lions are adamant about leaving no stone unturned, Green isn’t someone who could make a true difference.

Tim Patrick is the best example of someone who rose from the ashes to carve himself out a legitimate role. The Lions have been adamant about their desire to find true stars, yet the back end of their receiving group leaves much to be desired.

Perhaps Green won’t find a team this summer. At the very least, it’s obvious that the Lions have no expectations for him and believe he cannot be a reliable NFL receiver.
