4 Potential Trades Chiefs Could Make Involving Picks During Draft

The Chiefs are typically one of the more aggressive teams on draft day and have traded up in the first round in two of the last three years.

My evaluation of the draft has a lot of value in the middle of the event. If the Chiefs have a similar evaluation, it’s possible they could look to move back, add more picks and build some more depth.

Today I took a look at every team’s draft arsenal and what trades could make the most sense for the Chiefs this weekend.

Chiefs receive: Pick 24 and Pick 187
Vikings receive: Pick 31, Pick 95, and Pick 226

The Vikings have the least draft capital of any team in the draft, and rumors have been floating around about them looking to trade down or out of the first round for more picks. In this scenario, they are willing to sacrifice a little bit of value in order to stay in the first round while still gaining a pick in the top 100. The Vikings need contributors, not as much superstars, so moving down to add picks on day two could make a lot of sense for them.

For the Chiefs, they are able to jump up in the first round to get their guy, regardless of who, while also adding a sixth round pick. Prior to this, after picking at 133 in the fourth round, the Chiefs would not pick again until 226, but now they have a smaller gap to land someone who could fall further than expected.

Chiefs Trade for George Pickens in Surprise Projected NFL Draft Deal

Chiefs Receive; Pick 88, Pick 107, Pick 142
Jaguars Receive: Pick 66 and Pick 251

The Jaguars just brought in a new coach, with hopes that he will be able to turn things around and help Trevor Lawrence take the next big step in his development. This trade gives them an opportunity to jump 22 picks to get a weapon and bolster their offense. There will be recievers that likely fall, and the Jaguars may look to trade up for someone like Elic Ayomanor, Jaylin Noel or Jayden Higgins.

Picks 63 and 66 are weird spots for the Chiefs, as there needs don’t really match up with the players projected to go in that area. Because of this, the Chiefs may not love the idea of reaching twice in the second round and could look to move down. This trade allows them to drop down, in the third round while gaining a pick on day three as well.

Chiefs Receive: Pick 34, Pick 105
Giants Receive: Pick 31 and Pick 226

In this scenario, the Chiefs take an offer they simply can’t refuse. The Giants have been rumored to be interested in moving back into the first round to add a quarterback after taking the top player on their board at pick three. They have hosted Shedeur Sanders, Jalen Milroe, Tyler Shough, Jaxson Dart and Kyle McCord on personal visits, and it’s very likely most of those guys will be available at 31.

It will be hard to convince a team to move down just three spots, as they may feel more comfortable just taking their guy and moving forward. With division rivals in the Commanders and Eagles picking at 29 and 31, the Giants make an aggressive deal with the Chiefs to get their guy.

Chiefs Receive: Pick 15, 2026 sixth round pick
Falcons Receive: Pick 31, Pick 63, Pick 95 and a 2026 third round pick

There have been rumors that the Falcons are looking to trade down from pick 15, and with them only holding five picks in this years draft, it would make sense for them to potentially move back. And while this trade is more so for fun, it’s possible and could cause for a crazy twist in teams draft plans this weekend.

The reasons for the Falcons to make this trade are clear, they need more picks. This allows them to get three top 100 picks in exchange for their first as well as another top 100 pick next year. What makes this unlikely is the Falcons will likely have better offers from teams picking higher, and it’s unlikely they will want to drop 16 picks in the first round.

For the Chiefs, this would only happen if one of the top players on their board started to take a landslide fall. If someone like Mason Graham, Tetairoa McMillan, or a top offensive lineman falls out of the top ten, the Chiefs may start making calls to get aggressive. It’s likely this will be too much, and they will not be willing to sacrifice this much capital for one top prospect. But as Chiefs fans know, you never really know what could happen on draft day.
