Andrew Berry and the Cleveland Browns are in a crucial situation heading into the 2025 NFL draft. They need a long-term potential franchise quarterback in a bad way.

Currently, the Browns have Joe Flacco penciled in as their starter with Kenny Pickett as his primary backup. Deshaun Watson is still on the roster, but there is a good chance that he won’t see the field again with the team.

Leading up to the 2025 draft, there has been a lot of buzz about Cleveland potentially selecting Shedeur Sanders with the No. 2 overall pick. While the connections and buzz have been there, the Browns do not seem to be leaning that way right now.

Many believe that Cleveland will wait until its second-round pick at No. 33 overall to address the quarterback position.

A new prediction has been revealed that would have the Browns selecting a very intriguing quarterback at pick No. 33.

John Breech of CBS Sports has predicted that Louisville signal caller Tyler Shough will be Cleveland’s pick in the second round.

“With seven years spent at the college level, Shough was basically the Van Wilder of college football, so there’s certainly some risk involved for any team that drafts him,” Breech wrote. “However, spending some extra time in college can be a good thing and we learned that last year with Bo Nix thriving in Denver after spending five years at the collegiate level. Although I have the Browns taking Shough at 33rd overall, it wouldn’t be surprising if they traded up to the bottom of the first round to make this pick since all first-round rookie contracts come with a fifth-year option.”

Standing in at 6-foot-5 and nearly 220 pounds, the Chandler, Arizona native Shough has had a long college football career. He started off playing two years at Oregon before transferring for three years at Texas Tech. He completed his final college season at Louisville last year, throwing for 3,195 yards, 23 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while recording a 62.7% completion rate.

Throughout the pre-draft process, Shough has been raising his draft stock. CBS Sports has also compared him to former NFL quarterback Nick Foles.

Fans won’t have to wait too much longer to find out what the Browns do at quarterback. The first round will begin on Thursday night.
