LIONS NEWS: Neƈk tattoos, zoo keeping, and LOTR, there’s only one Taylor Deƈker

Lions OL Taylor Decker's favorite tattoo has special meaning

From neck tattoos to zoo keeping to LOTR, there’s only one Taylor Decker. That and more in today’s Notes:

Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker has been through it since being drafted in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. General managers, coaches—you name it—Decker has seen all kinds of names and faces during his tenure as a professional football player.

So while it has been amazing to see all of the young players on this team succeed over the last few years, it has been just as sweet watching members of the old guard like Decker and center Frank Ragnow, among others, enjoying this moment.

This week, Decker was next up in Dave Birkett’s ongoing interview series—which have been fantastic and worth your time—and the two touched on a bunch of different subjects that were outside of football. And if you are a bit of a nerd like me, you might appreciate Decker’s love of fictional fantasy books.

“Love Lord of the Rings,” Decker told Birkett after being asked what was the last book he had read. “I’ve read all the Lord of the Rings books, I’ve read all the Harry Potter books, stuff like that. Yeah, I’ve read all the Game of Thrones books, even the ones that are the Dance with Dragons ones and stuff like that. I think there’s seven or eight of ‘em out. I’ve read all those.”

We don’t want to spoil any of the rest of the interview, so make sure you check it out in its entirety($).

And now, onto the rest of today’s notes:

  • Lions wide receiver Allen Robinson joined Colin Thompson on SiriusXM NFL Radio to discuss the Lions’ big road win over Minnesota, as well as Dan Campbell’s messaging from earlier in the week.

  • Looking for a perspective from the other side? Check out Jim Wyatt’s Six Things to Watch for against the Lions.

  • Dalton Wasserman of Pro Football Focus spends almost a minute gushing about the Lions offense and how it is the best in the NFL.

  • If you are heading to Ford Field on Sunday for the game and planning on wearing your Halloween best, be sure to read this notice from the Lions regarding costumes.
