BREAKING: Cowboys Insider Talks ‘Leadership Twins’ For Dak and Micah

We have heard all offseason about the new culture that Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is trying to implement, and we’ve heard how much Micah Parsons wants to be seen as a locker room leader.

Dallas Cowboys Insider Talks 'Leadership Twins' For Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons At Workouts - Athlon Sports

We know what Dak is when it comes to leadership; he is perhaps one of the best in football, but Micah? This is his chance to truly show that he can help Dak carry the leadership torch, and with contract talks going on in the background, voluntary workouts were the first chance to see how truly invested Parsons is.

True to his word, Micah, like Dak, was one of the first in the building.

Is that “big” news? Not exactly as Micah was expected to turn up for “work”, but in a leadership sense? Absolutely.

Our own Mike Fisher, speaking on the Fish Report, detailed how both Micah and Dak must be the leaders for Schottenheimer’s vision.

“Dak and Micah need to be leadership twins,” Fish said. “I’m not talking about having the same exact kind of personality, but I am talking about having the exact same results. One guy with the offensive oar and the other guy with the defensive oar, and you’re both rowing in the same direction, and it’s got to be a Schotty direction.”

It was a formality that Dak would be in attendance because that is who he is, but for Micah? He hasn’t always been around for OTAs or minicamp.

But it is clear he sees the opportunity in front of him. With a new contract in the works, Micah knows what is at stake here, and after stating the need for chemistry with new players and the “utmost importance” he placed on being in the building, he showed up ready to work.

Plus, it sets an example for everyone else.

Yes, this is Brian Schottenheimer’s ship, but Parsons is helping steer it.

“Micah has to be the player that he wants paid as,” Jerry Jones said at the annual league meeting, and it appears Parsons has gotten the message.

Yes, it is only Day 1 of OTAs, but Dallas’ “leadership twins” have picked up the oars and sent a message to the rest of the locker room: they’re here to steer Schotty’s ship in the right direction.

So follow their lead.
