BREAKING : Cowboys Predicted to Make Aggressive Draft Trade for Standout Defender

Cowboys Predicted to Make Aggressive Draft Trade for Standout Defender - Newsweek

Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are always a team to watch when it comes to making a move to pursue a Super Bowl

After having a solid free agency period, the Cowboys are gearing up for the 2025 NFL draft, which is scheduled to begin on April 24. Right now, Dallas holds the No. 12 overall pick in the first round.

With that pick, there will be plenty of options for the Cowboys to choose from. They could target either offense or defense and bring in a piece that will be a high-impact addition for years to come.

A new prediction has come out that would see Dallas making a very aggressive trade to move up in the draft.

NFL.com analyst Gennaro Filice has released a new mock draft. He has predicted the Cowboys to make a move up to No. 8 overall with the Carolina Panthers.

With their newly acquired No. 8 overall pick, he has the team taking Georgia Bulldogs’ linebacker and edge rusher Jalon Walker.

“Across the mockosphere, Walker often comes off the board at No. 8 overall — typically, though, the Carolinas native is projected to land in Charlotte,” he wrote. “But in this simulation, the Panthers trade the pick to the Cowboys, who scoop up Walker for themselves. Wait, doesn’t Dallas already have a twitchy LB/edge hybrid? Yeah, but why settle for one Micah Parsons when you can have two?! Alright, that comp’s aggressive, but the pairing would be undeniably fun. And Parsons is a well-documented fan of Walker’s game.”

Standing in at 6-foot-2 and 245 pounds, Walker combines good size with elite athleticism. He is coming off of a strong 2024 season at Georgia.

Walker racked up 61 total tackles to go along with 6.5 sacks and two defended passes during the 2024 campaign. In his three-year career with the Bulldogs, he totaled 12.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

Matt Holder, an NFL scout for Bleacher Report, has made an interesting comparison for Walker. He projects the Georgia standout to be a similar player to Kyle Van Noy. Of course, Van Noy has had a long and successful career himself.

It would not be shocking to see Dallas try to move up. The front office could also try to move up for running back Ashton Jeanty if he’s available.

All of that being said, fans won’t have to wait much longer to see what the Cowboys do in the first round.
