With the 2025 NFL Draft just 11 days away, the Green Bay Packers have a lot of decisions to make. Brian Gutekunst and the front office need to figure out which direction they want to go and how they want to address the needs the roster currently has.
At this point in time, the Packers could use more pass rushing, playmaking at the wide receiver position, and potentially another cornerback depending on what they choose to do with Jaire Alexander. Thankfully, there are a lot of talented players at those positions throughout the draft.
Looking closer at the pass rushing side of things, Green Bay needs an impact player. Many thought they would explore the free agency or trade market to acquire the necessary playmaking at the position, but they chose not to go the route.
All of that being said, there is a chance the Packers could find the high-impact pass rusher they need in the draft.
Green Bay Packers Linked to Huge Addition with 23.5-Sack Pass Rusher
Bill Huber of On SI has predicted the team to find that pass rusher in the second round. He has Green Bay selecting Ohio State standout defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau with the No. 54 overall pick.
During the 2024 college football season with the Buckeyes, Tuimoloau recorded 61 total tackles to go along with 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and three defended passes. In his four-year career at Ohio State, he totaled 144 tackles, 23.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two inteceptions, an interception returned for a touchdown, and 10 defended passes. He also had 45 tackles for loss.
Tuimoloau is one of the highest motors available at defensive end in this draft class. His work ethic and skill-set would fit perfectly into what defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is trying to build with the Packers.
Being able to bring in a player of his caliber at pick No. 54 would be a big win for Green Bay. There is a chance he won’t be available, but if he is, the Packers should jump at the opportunity to bring him onboard.
