BREAKING NEWS: AI Predicts Cowboys’ Shocking Draft Pick

With the 2025 NFL Draft now less than two weeks away, platforms have been churning out daily mock drafts.

AI Predicts Dallas Cowboys' Shocking Draft Pick - Athlon Sports

There has been so much human speculation, we’ve now turned to robots to help us make sense of what might happen in Round 1.

USA Today asked Grok – Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence technology on X (formally known as Twitter) – to curate a mock draft of this year’s class.

And the results may not seem so “intelligent”.

Most recent mock drafts (by humans) have predicted the Dallas Cowboys to pick a play-making position at either running back or wide receiver. Although there has been some shuffling of who may be the likely pick, this assumption remains the same today.

The AI agrees … but their prediction for Dallas seems most unlikely as of late.

Grok predicts the Cowboys to draft Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty with the No. 12 overall pick in the Draft – a dream scenario for Dallas.

Jeanty is a familiar mock draftee in many Dallas circles. The “Frisco Kid” has been publicly adamant about wanting an opportunity to represent the team he grew up rooting for while playing high school football right next door.

Dallas Cowboys named potential fit for game-changing 2025 NFL Draft prospect

Is this possible? Of course. Likely? Not really.

The Heisman Trophy runner-up has seen his draft stock skyrocket since the end of the scouting process leading up to the Draft. There are other teams desperate for a running back who may draft him higher because he is clearly one of the best prospects in years.

Some analysts expect Jeanty to be drafted well before Dallas comes on the clock at 12 … but Grok is still fantasizing a reunion alongside Cowboys Nation.

“Grok has taken notice of the Cowboys’ issues at running back, calling it the ‘most pressing need’ for the team in the draft. After calling the Dallas offense ‘anemic’ in 2024, the frisky robot picked Jeanty for “America’s Team,” USA Today said.

“It seems unlikely that Jeanty will reach this point, but the Cowboys should be thrilled with this result if it comes to fruition. Landing one of arguably the top three talents in the class is enough reason to punt on other needs.”

There are some truths here. Yes, the Dallas run game was “anemic”, rushing for a league-low six touchdowns.

And yes, Jeanty’s talent speaks for itself. He rushed for 2,601 yards (7.0 yards per carry) and 29 touchdowns during one of the best individual college football seasons ever.

But the Jeanty projection wasn’t the only pick that may make fans scratch their heads in this mock. It had Penn State’s Abdul Carter – a superstar edge rusher in the making – dropping to No. 15 after being a top-3 talent on many big boards.

It also saw Alabama QB Jalen Milroe be selected No. 6 to the Las Vegas Raiders as the fourth quarterback selected in the first 10 picks.

Milroe has not seen any first-round projections, but did recently accept an invitation to the Draft’s green room … so maybe AI knows something we don’t.

Regardless of how much the technology “knows”, it is apparently stuck in the past when “Jeanty to Dallas” was among the most common predictions around.

That may still be a possibility, of course, but it would be a dream scenario for the Cowboys.

Just like how you wouldn’t trust AI to do your taxes, we don’t recommend following everything they say about the NFL Draft.
