The two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs had a wide receiver problem that needed to be addressed during the offseason, and the team did the best it could to upgrade the position with veteran Marquise Brown and rookie Xavier Worthy.

Unfortunately, Brown went down with a season-ending injury that required surgery, and so did wideout Rashee Rice, which put the team in a challenging situation, even though Worthy has been a solid addition with a promising future.

As a result of losing Brown and Rice to injuries, the Chiefs further addressed the need ahead of the NFL trade deadline by bringing in veteran DeAndre Hopkins in a deal with the Tennessee Titans.

Although Hopkins’ debut with the Chiefs was forgettable, the follow-up performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was impressive, with two receiving touchdowns in an eighth straight win for Kansas City.

With Hopkins now in town, Worthy is trying to soak up as much knowledge as he can from the veteran.

β€œI try to pick his brain as much as possible without being super annoying,” Worthy said, via Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports.

Hopkins, who may be on track to resurrect his career with the Chiefs, is an ideal mentor for Worthy as he tries to carve out his own successful path on the NFL level.

In the second half of the 2024 campaign, quarterback Patrick Mahomes will have to lean heavily on Hopkins and Worthy to get this offense firing on all cylinders.

So far, things are looking good for Kansas City to finish strong and make another deep run in the NFL playoffs as it attempts to accomplish a historic Super Bowl three-peat.
