Rashee Rice made the Kansas City Chiefs players, organization and fans very happy on Tuesday as he pronounced himself fit to play in the NFL this season.
Rice suffered a season-ending injury in Week 4 last season, but he appears to be back and ready to go. He is going full speed ahead.
He posted on social media that he has been cleared by doctors to run the “full route tree”. He has also indicated he is capable of doing anything and everything necessary required to play wide receiver at the NFL level.
He is not only on track to be back as fit as ever, but he is actually ahead of schedule.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes must be excited to get his weapon back. At the time of his injury, Rice was the second-biggest weapon amongst his receivers. He had 24 receptions for 288 yards and two scores through three games.
The figures he amassed put him on pace to be among the best receivers in the league. He is only in his third season and is 24 years old. He will pair with former first-round draft choice Xavier Worthy to serve as a formidable pair of receivers for Mahomes to throw to.
Rice still has legal matters he has to tend to, which might result in a suspension from the league. The status is still up in the air as the NFL Draft approaches. The Chiefs might choose a wide receiver in the draft in case Rice is suspended by the league.
The Chiefs also have Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in the fold, so the chances of them taking a receiver high in the draft would not be that great.
