Browns roster: Should GM Andrew Berry add a QB before the draft? - Dawgs By Nature

While the Cleveland Browns trading up to select Cam Ward was never the most likely scenario, it has become clear that he was their target at the top of the draft. League insiders have reported as much and the fact that GM Andrew Berry said it wasn’t likely but wouldn’t rule it out at the owners meeting was at least an admission that they’d be willing to at the right price.

It’s now more certain than ever that the Tennessee Titans will be selecting Ward with the first pick after they canceled a scheduled workout with Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Cleveland’s lack of moves in the QB room may indicate that they were hoping to land Ward and while anything is possible, it seems like the Browns have sobered up to realize that is unlikely to happen.

With Ward eliminated the Browns find themselves looking toward the draft for a quarterback who may need time to develop. Sanders would probably be the most ready to see the field this year but Cleveland loses all control of where he lands when they pass him up at two overall.

Perhaps the Browns are comfortable waiting to see how the draft plays out and then pivot to Kirk Cousins. The situation between he and the Atlanta Falcons is a messy one and will be costly to make happen.

Our question for today’s discourse is:

Should the Browns make a move before the draft to bring in a possible starter at QB before the draft?

The Dallas Cowboys traded for Joe Milton last week from the New England Patriots and it’s fair to wonder if Cleveland could have a similar move up their sleeve. Malik Willis would make a ton of sense for the Browns and what they want to do on offense but he’s on the final year of his rookie deal as the backup to Jordan Love in Green Bay.

Maybe the Browns should just do whatever it takes to get Cousins in the building now or perhaps there is another opportunity out there that we haven’t thought of. The free agent pool is very shallow now that teams have gotten this close to the draft.
